TAMPA, FLORIDA — The battle for the GOP presidential nomination intensified Monday night as Mitt Romney’s and Rick Perry’s hands touched for the briefest of moments and yet, in that weightless, fleeting contact, seemed to convey all that ever was or shall be.

a secret tea party hand shake? forefinger to thumb. hmmm

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

An excerpt from the Desiderata

I really do try to remember to keep some perspective, in whatever form it may show itself, whether things are going well or not so well.

Today, for perspective, as I was moping around in a frustrated funk regarding the job, my mom texted with some news…

Earlier today, a girl I went to high school with (she’s three years older than me) had a hysterectomy.

This morning, her dad - a very sweet, kind, caring man - had a wreck on his motorcycle. He hit a wild hog (those things are big and slow and don’t give two shits about anything) and isn’t expected to make it.

Right now, they are transporting her via ambulance from her hospital, to his in Austin, hoping to make it before he dies.

Hello, my name is Liz and I am addicted to Bravo’s Most Eligible Dallas.
It’s like watching a car wreck. In stereotypical Dallas.
If you’re from anywhere in Texas other than Dallas, this is exactly how you see Dallas: money, flashy cars, designer everything, always primped and poofed, all about ‘the scene’ and so on.
In Austin, when we said, “Don’t Dallas my Austin” - this is what we were talking about.
And I am obsessed. It’s easily my current guilty pleasure.
And Courtney is by far my favorite. Love her. Love her style. Want her closet. Think she’s adorable. Covet her hair. And love that she’s not afraid to call the guys out for bringing the skanks around.
But mainly I think I’m just obsessed with her hair.

And they’re all white.

The investigation into violent incidents on the opening night of the Wisconsin State Fair has resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old African-American who told investigators he targeted whites, according to police. The Milwaukee teen told police he and other African-American juveniles beat up white people because they were “easy targets,” according to West Allis police. He also said he “was going along with the crowd” in the robberies that happened after the midway closed last Thursday. The teen was booked on suspicion of attempted robbery and robbery. Police recommend that he face additional penalties for hate crimes.

Cops: Suspect says attacks at Wis. State Fair were racially motivated - chicagotribune.com

Thoughts?

He said cause they were easy targets, not cause hates whites. Doesn’t sound like a hate crime. Just regular crime.

While we were in Dallas for the wedding, we decided to give Clementine’s groomers a try at boarding her. We figured play time with other doggies and the salt water pool would be better than being stuck in a hotel room while we were boozing it up.

Unfortunately, we didn’t double check their hours on Sunday and were shocked and saddened when we rolled back into town at 4:30 only to find that they’re open from 9-12 on Sundays, which, made absolutely no sense to us as if you’re boarding your dog, it’s probably because you’re going out of town and who gets back from an out-of-town trip by noon? So we spent the rest of the evening reading every bad review of the place we could find to feed our fears that she was miserable and mistreated and would hold it against us for the rest of our lives and grow up to be rebellious and get stupid tattoos and dye her fur funny colors.

Well, she’s fine. With no obvious signs of distress, other than a funny smell to her (it seems to be a combination of bubble-gum-ish doggie perfume and piss). She was ecstatic to see me and even more excited to be home, quickly running to her squirrel-watching post on the couch before hopping from couch to couch, making sure everything still smelled the same.

They were a little expensive (in my unemployed opinion) - $36/night + $17 Saturday daycare + $30 bath - so for that amount, I may suggest we just pay a friend to watch her and take her to the dog park next time.

I would watch her. Already have three dogs in a huge house with an even bigger backyard. Next time let me know. Reasonable rates ; P
